So life is rad right now. I'm loving my job, seeing a lot of free films, making a lot of money, meeting new people... I even have a boyfriend now. Yeah, exactly, what the fuck. He's kinda one of my managers. And he's kinda 27 years old. But hey, I like him and he likes me. We also have a shit load of stuff in common, like TV shows and anime and views on religious fundamentalism (which is always a good thing to see eye-to-eye on). (He's also in charge of the staff rota so he gives me good shifts HELL YEAH) (ALSO HE LOOKS SLIGHTLY LIKE SETH GREEN WITH GLASSES AND I'VE ALWAYS FANCIED SETH GREEN)
I have also sorted out the rest of the travelling I'm going to do this year - I'm leaving at the start of May and I'm gone for a month. The first two weeks I'm volunteering in Laos by teaching novice Buddhist monks. Shit is crazy because women aren't allowed to touch monks or monks in training, so if I have to give them anything I have to either give it to a man to give to them or put it on a table for them to take. The head is also considered sacred so you can't touch anyone on the head, and feet are seen as dirty so you're not allowed to sit down with your feet pointing at anyone... And there's a pretty strict dress code for being a teacher. Then I'll be off the same day to Cambodia where I'm volunteering for another 2 weeks at schools, teaching maths and IT and literacy and stuff. The main reason I chose to visit Cambodia was to see the Angkor temples, and the volunteering camp is literally based 20 minutes away from the main site. So yeah. The plan is to rent a bicycle and see as much as I can whilst I'm there. Only today did I actually think "hey, this is not Europe, what if they have crocodiles and stuff" so I looked up the wildlife and learnt there are tigers, leopards, elephants, pythons, crocodiles, stingrays and fucking massive crunchy spiders etc, all of which I can see myself potentially dying from. But I don't want to die.
Seeing as I'm gone for a month I'll probably have to 'quit' my job at the cinema and then be 'invited' to 'reapply' and hopefully take the job back when I return. I'm enjoying it so much that I'm planning to work throughout the summer too. It will also mean I'll be loaded by the time I start university.
On a sadder note, my car broke down and is getting turned to scrap tomorrow. I didn't learn to drive in it but it was my first car and, although dangerously dysfunctional its whole life (it was severely second-hand when we bought it), I grew close to that cute lump of red metal and its plethora of issues. So I'm kinda sad about that. :c But hey, you win some you lose some.
